The Girl is Dead
In spring of 2014, I felt a conscious shift of empowerment. No longer I felt the need to please or to prove to myself. Letting go of the past is never easy, although the outcome is incredibly rewarding.
Inspired by the Australian documentary, Utopia, presented by John Pilger, this work reflects the dysfunction and unspoken sadness in many remote Aboriginal communities. Utopia is one of the poorest and more desolate areas in Australia, resulting in severe alcohol abuse within families and groups.
Growing up with Aboriginal people, I understand how destructive our Western culture has been within these beautiful families.
Trojan was a huge hollow wooden horse constructed by the Greeks to gain entrance into Troy during the Trojan War. The horse was built by master carpenter and pugilist, Epeius. At the time, The Greeks, pretending to desert the war, sailed to the nearly island of Tenedos, leaving behind Sinon, who persuaded the Trojans that the horse was an offering to Athena which would make Troy impregnable. Despite warnings, the horse was taken inside, and that night, warriors emerged from it and opened the city's gates. Some experts suppose that the stories of the Trojan War may have been distorted history, telling of a real war which happened between Greece and Troas in approximately 1200 BCE.
Face of Lenox
Faces of Lenox was composed after returning from Lenox, Massachusetts, where I had the opportunity to visit my ancestors home, the Brook Farm Inn, along with a performance at the Ventfort Mansion in Lenox. After spending time with historian and author, Cornelia Gilder, and current owner of the Brook Farm Inn, Linda Halpern, I learnt a lot about pianists Frederick William Rackemann and brother Ludwig, who at the time were the first German pianists to perform in New York in the late 1800's. With a strong desire to return to Lenox, I wish to delve into its history in more detail.

'Below the threshold of sensation or consciousness; perceived by or affecting someone's mind without them being aware of it.'
Sisterhood and Dragonflies
A story of two women who came together in friendship to set each other free.
Incredibly moved and inspired by a short documentary titled Moments with Baxter, I sat down and composed this work with a few tears. Baxter was known as the world's most devoted and oldest therapy dog, passing at age 19 in October 2009. His role primarily involved visiting the elderly who were finding it difficult to let go. With his ability to connect on a deeper level, patients often passed away within twenty-four hours of being in Baxter's presence.
'Remote, uninteresting, nondescript' says the naked soul.
Silence in Arabia
I have always had a fascination for ancient Arabic and Egyptian culture. I often imagine freedom being experienced in the Arabian Desert.
